Besides, this is all specs and folk are salivating at PS5 games on a handheld without (much like the designers) putting too much thought into how comfortable it is to play. Some people seem to think Nintendo board members sit around a table rocking backwards and forwards, worried what everyone else is doing. In all seriousness, and yet again folk haven't been listening to the President of Nintendo, they mentioned months ago about rivals releasing similar products and being ready for them. Admittedly it's light years ahead of the Switch in terms of the kind of games it'll be able to run, and yet it's only $50 more than an OLED model. In a hands-on video, IGN compared the tech inside the system within the "ballpark" of the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 - while showcasing games like Control and Death Stranding running on it. But that was pretty clearly a critical aspect to it." and then price point was secondary and painful. "I want to pick this up and say, oh, it all works. While performance was the top priority, unfortunately, the trade-off was what Newell refers to as a "painful" price point:

While the American company best-known for its digital games platform on PC hasn't drawn any comparisons to Nintendo's hybrid system itself, it's sort of hard to ignore certain similarities and the fact the price point is only $50 more than the recently announced Switch OLED.ĭuring a chat with IGN, Valve's president Gabe Newell mentioned how crucial it was to find the balance between performance and pricing when designing the Steam Deck. It's a cycle and I'm not the only one to have pointed it out.Īll the best wishes for you, but that would be a horrible business case.In case you missed it, Valve's rumoured "Switch-like" handheld device has now been officially revealed as the Steam Deck. They'll also never escape the endless "It's not as good as the last one" whinging that got old ages ago. I dont think that the devs, no matter how hard they try, would be able to convince people that it isnt SMAC 2, and that will always work against them that's part of why BE didn't do so well. Originally posted by Nightshade878:As much as I wish there would be a Beyond Earth 2, I highly doubt there will be. BE is definitely my favourite Civ game by far, and I would hate to see such a fascinating IP (also one of my favourite IPs) die. Ideas aside, I do sincerely hope we will see a Beyond Earth 2 someday, however unlikely. Hey, they should hire the CODEX team to help them if they make a new one. That's not the only way they could do it, but it is one. Special districts for each Affinity/Hybrid Affinity would be badass (Temple of Harmony, Node District, Centre of Purity, for some ideas). That being said, I think if they took BE, made it in Civ VI's engine, and added more flavour to everything (ala CODEX), they'd have a pretty damned good game. It's a cycle and I'm not the only one to have pointed it out. Does anyone else got any cool things you'd want to see in a new Beyond Earth game?Īs much as I wish there would be a Beyond Earth 2, I highly doubt there will be.

Have a diplomatic ending where the three affinitys unite to destroy the intelligent alien homeworld with a full orbital bombardment with their combined might. defeating some of their units unlocks researching alien tech. Myabe have a late game event where sometimes an alien full planetary invasion happens. (lets say that the three big affinitys were warring to decide the correct ideology and one other guy called intelligent aliens, and this is the stage the second game starts into.) A intelligent alien race in orbit is researching and messing with the humans, infecting biology and machine alike on the planet, one of the endings could be invading their ship. I think it would be cool to have random scripted events like if your going supremacy a virus can break out and cities could be infected and go berzerk (become city states unless you cure them), or actually the contact ending from the first game could add some things if you wanted to continue the story from the first game. actually I'm not sure if that would really work out well.

I would love to see a new and improved beyond earth game, maybe with access to build on the moon with use of short range teleporters after its researched and launching one, kinda like the caves from age of wonders 3.
